Will loose chainsaw chains cause harm to people?

If chainsaw chains become loose, it can indeed pose a certain risk of harm to personal safety. When the chainsaw is in operation, the chain needs to maintain appropriate tension to ensure stable and efficient operation during the cutting process. When the chain becomes loose, its trajectory may become unstable, leading to a series of safety issues. Firstly, loose chains may jump or suddenly shift during cutting, causing the chain to detach or detach from the guide plate during operation, which increases the risk of accidents during operation. If the chain falls off or bounces, it may fly out at high speed, hitting the operator or surrounding people, causing serious bodily injury, especially in the front end of the chain. Backlash (rebound) phenomenon is more common, causing the operator to lose control of the chain saw, leading to unstable cutting or even accidents.
In addition, loose chains often lead to a decrease in cutting efficiency. When the chain does not have sufficient tension, the friction and pressure between the chain and the guide plate increase, making it easy to get stuck during cutting and increasing the likelihood of accidents. The operator may apply improper force when forcefully pushing the chainsaw, resulting in hand or arm injuries, especially when handling larger or harder wood.
Loose chains may also cause the chain to deviate during the cutting process, making the cutting route inaccurate and increasing the risk of incorrect operations, especially when performing fine cutting or trimming tasks. Improper operation may lead to accidents, especially when the chain saw is operated at a high place or suspended, loose chains are even more dangerous.
